Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is critical for making sure that your website gets discovered by possible supporters, members of the press, donors and volunteers. It's what makes your non-profit appear first in search results when people are searching for issues or causes, and it is the primary generator of website traffic. Optimizing your website or microsite for search engines is especially important when creating new non-profit organizations or launching new donor or activism campaigns. Just as important as optimizing your website is making sure that you are analyzing the results and continuously updating the site to maximize its effectiveness.
This meetup topic will cover the ins-and-outs of SEO, including
1. Keyword Research 2. Website Optimization 3. Link Building For Nonprofits 4. Keeping Content Fresh 5. Analytics
The presentation will be given by Laura Benack, ED of Grassroots.org as well as other members of the organization. Laura also recently agreed to help plan events for this meetup, so please welcome her as one of the new co-organizers!

Thanks so much to everyone for coming to hear about Organic SEO techniques. We have posted both the Powerpoint and the handout to the Files section here. Feel free to contact me with any questions about getting SEO help or anything else!
“ I learned a few useful things about "natural" SEO and confirmed some knowledge of other things. As usual, meeting people and networking is usually the best part. Very interested in checking out grassroots.org whose people led the workshop. ”
